Comparison of the MTW Albedo Climatology with the MLER Climatology
The MTW climatology was compared with the TOMS 380 nm monthly LER (MLER)
climatology [Herman et al. 1997]. The new climatology was averaged monthly
and transformed to the 1.25 x 1 degree regular grid of the MLER climatology.
The results of the comparison are shown in Figures below. The differences
found at low latitudes were relatively small, but at high latitudes the
new climatology gave much larger surface albedo than the MLER climatology.
The largest regional differences were of the order of 60 reflectivity units
and were found at high latitudes in spring and autumn.
